Witchcraft is on the "prohibited" list of RBS Worldpay!

Back in early June I contacted RBS Worldpay regarding using them for merchant services - credit card processing - in the store. The representative that I worked with was very eager to have Mystical Treasures Emporium LLC as a client. On Tuesday, June 29, 2010 I faxed my application over and purchased a credit card terminal. The terminal arrived on July 1, 2010. On Saturday, July 3, 2010 I received two letters from RBS Worldpay. The first letter stated my credit card had been charged for the shipping of the terminal. The second letter, dated June 30, 2010 and post marked July 1, 2010 informed me that my account was terminated - no explanation given.

I tried to call the 800 number listed on the letter ... seems that RBS Worldpay does not have people working on Saturday or Sunday for account inquiries. I called and left a message with the representative I had been speaking with. I spoke to him on Tuesday and he told me he was looking into the situation but not happy with the results. On Wednesday, July 7, 2010 I spoke with him again. It appears that one of the vice presidents of the RISK department had visited the store's website and declared that "witchcraft" was on the prohibited activities list. Strangely enough, the representative I had worked with and no one vice president in the RISK department had heard of witchcraft being on the prohibited list. However, the vice presidents passed the buck back to the one that made the decision.

I did a bit of research and found a good number of pagan stores in the UK that use RBS Worldpay for credit card processing. However, it appears that while RBS is the Royal Bank of Scottland the branches in the USA and the UK are two different companies.

So, if you are a pagan store and want to do business in the USA you cannot use RBS Worldpay.

Sounds like plain and simple religious discrimination.

The representative I had been working with said he called all the vice president's he knew and none would take a stand on the issue. He brought up that there were a lot of pagan stores in the UK that use RBS Worldpay for credit card processing (and more). This was on Friday, July 9, 2010 that he said he had exhausted everything he could do with the exception of one trump card. I told him that he had been a great representative but that RBS Worldpay could kiss my ass. I also said that he should send this encounter up to his legal department to see what they said about it.

I said that I wanted a statement in writing saying why my account had been terminated. He told me that I would have to call a certain person within the company. I may post their number here on my website. I called the number and left a message. As of July 17, 2010 I had not received any letter stating why my account was terminated.

Currently I am in discussion with the ACLU, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and several other groups regarding this situation. I know that my telephone conversations were recorded and the representative stated that he had many emails from people higher up in the company regarding this issue.

If you are a pagan store then I strongly urge you NOT to waste your time with RBS Worldpay.

If you are already using them for merchant services in the USA please let me know.

To any other merchant reading this I would suggest you cancel your contract with RBS Worldpay immediately! This is nothing more than discrimination.

And finally, I would urge everyone NOT to do utilize RBS Worldpay in any store that uses them for merchant services.
